Tuesday To-Do | Frosty & Glittery Votives

Tuesday To-Do | Frosty & Glittery Votives

We still haven’t done much Christmas decorating, but when we do I want it to be as simple, natural and lovely. And I also want to use what I already have on hand as much as possible. These frosty and glittery votives are really quick and simple, but have lots of impact!

Supplies

Small glass pots or mason jars: I used yoghurt pots
White gesso
Gold glitter
Painters tape
Sponge dabber brush
Small tray

Instructions

1. Tape off the bottom of the glass pot

2. Quickly apply the gesso with a dabbing motion using the sponge brush. The next step depends on the paint being wet, so move quickly, this doesn’t have to look perfect. In fact the rougher it is the better!

3. Now shake the gold glitter over the wet paint. I used a vintage salt shaker to get better coverage. Shake while holding over a small tray to catch the excess glitter

Do some more and wait for them to dry (always the hardest part, right?)

4. Once dry remove the tape and add tea light candles

They are lovely by day and by night

I’ll be putting these in the dining room, where we can enjoy their glow while having dinner each night. Candle light makes everything more hygge!
