If you love printables, or print lots of photos at home, it stands to reason that you love your printer. But if there is one thing that drives us crazy about our printers, it’s having to constantly be replacing printer ink cartridges. Am I right? My printer will remind me when I’m getting close to a cartridge being empty, but most times I just click on ignore, thinking I will remember in time. Wrong! That of course leads to me running out of ink right when I need it most (like when I am ready to print out some fun journaling cards ). I’ve tried to be better about this by noting reminders down in my planner, but I’d love a better way to not have to do the “crap I’m out of printer ink” groan so often.
It looks like the manufacturers get this! Here are three companies that are making it easier for you to never run out of printer ink again.
Canon Printers
Canon has their Easy Ink Delivery service:
- The printer alerts you when you’re running low.
- You click on Buy Now and get directed to the Canon site where you see a list of cartridges for your printer model
- Shop online!
- Cartridges are delivered right to your door.
HP Printers
HP goes one better! You can sign up for a plan in their Instant Ink service based on how many pages you print a month. You will need to own an eligible printer (see them here). You don’t have to do a single thing. Your printer will alert HP when it needs ink, and a new cartridge will show up at your door before you run out. Dudes! Can you imagine that? The plans start at just $2.999 a month and will save you a significant amount compared to buying cartridges. Get all the details here.
Epson Printers
Epson is raising the bar with their new EcoTank printers. These printers promise to come with enough ink to last you two whole entire years of printing! That’s based on a monthly household printing of 200 pages. The printers have the ability to print up to 11,000 pages in black and up to 8,500 pages in full color. That’s a whole lot of printable Project Life cards! The printers have the standard print, copy and scan functions, along with Wi-Fi connectivity. The new EcoTank printers will have a price that starts at around $400, and users will be able to save 60 to 65 percent on costs from using an Ink Tank printer compared to a printer that uses cartridges.
If you’re lucky enough to already have one of these three kinds of printers, that great! And if you’re in the market for a new printer, consider how these innovative ink services will help you out, and factor that into your decision making.
