Isn’t this the most adorable door stop you have ever seen? I had so much fun making him, even though I’d recently been lamenting to a friend on Instagram that I am total crap at embroidery, ever since being traumatized by my needlework teacher when I was 11. (She was legendary for being mean. She was also my handwriting teacher, so it’s no coincidence that I have always hated my handwriting).
This project comes from Super + Super, and is from their new book Embroidery. It uses mainly basic stitches, like back stitch, satin stitch and chain stitch, and I also learned a new technique called couching, which is when you stitch over the thread that is laid out on the pattern. I did the project over five days.
First I cut out the pieces, traced the pattern, and chose my embroidery thread colours.
I dedicated a couple days to the embroidery portion. I totally messed up that satin stitch………
Then I stitched it together, and stuffed.
Now Kieran has a brand new door stopper. Something tells me it will end up with all the other stuffies in his bed though.
Have you done any embroidery projects?
